The 76th Berlin International Film Festival has announced its Programme of Perspective film competition.
The Perspectives competition is comprised of 13 feature film debuts; a 14th may be announced at a later date. Of the films announced today, eleven are world premieres, one is an international premiere, one is a European premiere. 22 production countries are represented. Six films were directed by women.
“It was inspiring to see our audiences and professional guests embrace our new first feature competition, Perspectives, in 2025. A number of these films and filmmakers have gone on to breakthrough recognition in the year since. Once again in 2026 you find dazzling talent, and films full of heart and breathtaking creativity. Festivals have a hugely important role to play in enabling the discovery of the next generation of major talents, and we’ve been excited by the future when viewing the debuts in Perspectives,” says Festival Director Tricia Tuttle.
